A 160 x 230 cm rug is approximately 5’3″ x 7’7″. It’s often referred to as a 5×7 or 5×8 rug, though the exact dimensions can vary slightly.

a 160 x 230 rug works well in living rooms around 3.5–4.5 m wide, double or king bedrooms, and dining rooms seating four to six. In much larger rooms it can look a little modest, so if your living room is wider than 4.5 m, a 200 x 300 cm rug may sit better.

Yes. A 160 x 230 rug is usually wide enough for the front legs of a standard 3-seater sofa to rest comfortably on the rug.

A standard king size bed is 150 x 200 cm. A 160 x 230 rug placed horizontally will extend just 5 cm on either side of the bed width, and 30 cm below the foot. If you want more of a border showing on the sides, consider a 200 x 300 cm rug instead.

Choose 160 x 230 cm if your room is roughly 3.5–4.5 m wide, your sofa is up to about 2.5 m, or your dining table seats four to six. Go up to 200 x 300 cm if you want all four sofa legs on the rug, a table seating six to eight, or a more visible border around a king bed.
