This unique Afghan Khal Mohammadi rug brings natural warmth and character to your home. The low pile height ensures it sits neatly under furniture and doors, making it a versatile addition to your living space.

As a one-of-a-kind piece, this rug is entirely individual. No two hand-knotted rugs are ever identical, meaning this exact design, with its specific details and character, will never be replicated. Choosing this rug means acquiring a singular work of art.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan, the rug features a rich red field accented by dark blue medallions and geometric motifs. The classic colour palette and balanced composition reflect a long-standing regional tradition, making it an inviting focal point for your room.

The design is defined by two prominent dark blue medallions set against a rich red field.

Intricate geometric motifs and floral elements are carefully distributed across the surface.

A detailed decorative border with repeating octagonal motifs frames the entire composition.

Afghan Khal Mohammadi rugs are highly regarded and take their name from the legendary master weaver who developed the unique dye recipes and design style in northern Afghanistan. This tradition represents a significant chapter in Afghan weaving, blending local heritage with exceptional craftsmanship.

The name Khal Mohammadi itself stands for a specific standard of quality. These rugs are characterised by their deep, lustrous colours and robust structure, which are achieved through carefully managed traditional hand-knotting techniques using premium wool.

The visual language of this style is defined by its warm, deep red tones, often contrasted with dark blue or black geometric patterns. The central field typically features repeating medallions, framed by intricate decorative borders that showcase the weaver's precision.

Owning an Afghan Khal Mohammadi rug means bringing a piece of living history into your home. These rugs are highly valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their durability, rich cultural heritage, and the distinct warmth they bring to any interior.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a traditional technique requiring immense patience and skill. Every single knot is placed individually by hand, creating a robust and resilient structure that machine-made rugs simply cannot replicate.

With a weight of 2.9 kg and compact dimensions of 118 x 78 cm, this piece has a dense and solid feel. This weight-to-size ratio indicates a substantial amount of wool was used in its creation, reflecting the intensive physical labour and care invested by the artisan.
