Dark red / BlackRunner110 x 335 cm

Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region in the Middle East, an area celebrated for its deep-rooted weaving traditions. These rugs are known for their sturdy construction and the use of high-quality materials sourced from the surrounding mountainous landscapes.

The distinct character of a Hosseinabad rug often lies in its ability to blend traditional tribal motifs with a formal, sophisticated composition. While often featuring a central medallion, these runners are prized for their adaptability and the way they bring a sense of historical narrative to contemporary homes.

The design of this runner features a striking medallion set against a field of intricate, repeating patterns. The use of a deep red palette, contrasted with darker blue tones, is a classic hallmark of the region, designed to create a focal point that draws the eye and commands attention.

Collecting a piece from this tradition is a way to preserve a piece of living history. These rugs are valued not just for their aesthetic beauty, but for the skill and patience required to create them, representing a cultural legacy that continues to be appreciated by design enthusiasts worldwide.

This runner is entirely hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that demands immense skill and precision. Each individual knot is tied by hand, ensuring a level of structural integrity and pattern clarity that remains unmatched by machine-made alternatives.

The 12.9 kg weight of this 335 x 110 cm piece is a testament to the amount of high-quality wool used and the density of its construction. This significant weight is a direct indicator of the effort invested, resulting in a robust, long-lasting rug that will hold its shape and quality for years of regular use.
