Dark red / Black152 x 201 cm

The Hosseinabad rug tradition hails from the Middle East, a region with a deep-rooted history of weaving that spans centuries. These rugs are typically produced in rural areas where the art of knotting has been passed down through generations, maintaining a link to the nomadic and semi-nomadic lifestyles of the past.

The term Hosseinabad refers to both the origin and the specific design style associated with this village tradition. These rugs are known for their sturdy construction and their use of high-quality wool, which is often spun and dyed using traditional methods to achieve deep, lasting colours that mellow beautifully over time.

Visually, Hosseinabad rugs are distinguished by their bold, geometric interpretations of floral motifs and central medallions. The patterns are often balanced and symmetrical, framed by ornate borders that protect the field. This rug features a classic red colour palette, which is a hallmark of the region's aesthetic and is highly prized for its ability to bring warmth and vitality to any interior.

Collectors value these rugs not only for their durability but for the genuine cultural narrative they contain. Owning a piece from this tradition means connecting with a long lineage of artisans who poured their skill into every knot. It is an investment in heritage, representing a level of human connection and artistic expression that remains deeply relevant in the modern home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense focus and patience. By securing each individual knot by hand, the artisan ensures a level of structure and density that machine-made rugs simply cannot match. This traditional approach creates a robust foundation that allows the rug to lie perfectly flat and resist wear over time.

The creation of this specific piece represents many weeks of dedicated labour. The artisan works from a traditional design, knotting each strand to build the intricate pattern you see. This significant time investment is reflected in the rug's solid feel and the consistent quality of the pile, which is achieved only through the steady, experienced hands of a skilled weaver.

With a weight of 12.8 kg, the rug demonstrates the generous use of quality materials. This weight is a direct result of the dense knotting and the high-quality wool pile, signalling a construction that is built to last. This density ensures that the pattern remains crisp and clear, and that the rug will continue to provide comfort and beauty in your home for generations.
