Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region in the western part of the Middle East, an area long celebrated for its prolific and distinct weaving heritage. These rugs are deeply rooted in village traditions, where families have passed down weaving techniques through generations, resulting in a regional aesthetic that is both recognisable and highly valued by collectors.

The term Hosseinabad refers to a specific village style known for its robust and sturdy construction. These rugs are typically characterised by a solid foundation, which ensures they can handle the high traffic of a busy home while maintaining their shape and texture over time.

Visually, these rugs often feature a classic medallion centred within a field filled with repeating tribal motifs. The borders are usually wide and formal, framing the central design with geometric shapes and floral elements that reflect the cultural surroundings of the weavers. The use of deep red and dark blue tones is a hallmark of the area, creating a timeless look that fits beautifully in various home interiors.

Owning a Hosseinabad rug is an opportunity to connect with a storied tradition of craftsmanship. Because each piece is handmade in a village setting, it carries the unique perspective and artistic choices of the weaver. These rugs are collected not only for their durability but for the cultural weight they bring into a home, representing a legacy of skill that remains a vital part of the region's identity.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 307 x 203 cm piece involved approximately 156,000 individual knots. This high level of precision allows for the sharp, clear definition of the intricate patterns seen across the surface.

The labour-intensive nature of this craft means that a single rug of this size takes several months of dedicated work by skilled artisans to complete. Every knot is tied by hand, contributing to the exceptional density and long-term durability that defines this style of rug.

Beyond the knot count, the substantial weight of 26.2 kg reflects the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction. This weight is a clear indicator of the density and the significant human effort invested, resulting in a product that is built to withstand daily use while retaining its refined appearance.
