Hosseinabad rugs originate from the Hamadan region of the Middle East, an area with a deep-rooted history of rug weaving that stretches back centuries. These rugs are known for their sturdy construction and the use of traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations of families living in the surrounding villages.

The term Hosseinabad refers to the specific village tradition where these rugs are crafted. The weavers in this region are celebrated for their ability to maintain consistent quality while working with local, high-quality wool. The resulting pile is often dense and robust, which is why these rugs are so highly regarded for their ability to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.

Visually, Hosseinabad rugs are often defined by their repeating geometric motifs, sometimes arranged in a central medallion or an all-over pattern that flows across the field. The borders are typically formal and well-structured, providing a clear frame that highlights the complexity of the central design. These rugs often utilise a palette of warm, earthy tones, with red being a signature colour that conveys a sense of traditional warmth.

Collecting a rug from this tradition is about more than just floor decor; it is about bringing a piece of cultural history into your home. These rugs are valued by collectors and homeowners alike for their authenticity and the genuine human skill that goes into every stitch. Owning one is a way to connect with a long-standing craft tradition that emphasises beauty, utility, and the enduring nature of hand-worked textiles.

This runner is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have honed their craft over generations. The process is one of immense patience and precision, where every single knot is tied by hand to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the rug. This level of dedication is what gives the finished piece its characteristic density and resilience.

With a weight of 9.8 kg spread across its 390 x 72 cm dimensions, this runner is a testament to the significant amount of high-quality material invested in its creation. This substantial weight is a clear indicator of the density of the knotting and the quality of the wool used, ensuring a sturdy foundation that stays firmly in place.

The time and human effort required to complete a piece of this size are considerable, with each knot contributing to the sharpness of the pattern and the overall quality of the pile. By choosing a hand-knotted rug, you are supporting a traditional craft that prizes quality and lasting beauty above all else.
