Jozan rugs hail from the Malayer region in the Middle East, an area long revered for its exceptional weaving history. These rugs are distinct from their neighbours, often displaying a level of refinement and technical precision that sets them apart as some of the most sought-after pieces from the region.

The term Jozan refers to both the origin and a specific approach to knotting that emphasises durability and clarity of design. By using high-quality Wool and a tight, consistent knotting structure, weavers in this area create rugs that are known for their longevity, ensuring that the intricate patterns remain sharp and clear even after decades of use.

The visual language of a Jozan rug typically centres on elegant, flowing floral motifs and ornate medallions. The field is often filled with stylised vines, blossoms, and leaves, all contained within a beautifully balanced border system. This particular piece showcases a masterful use of space, where the traditional floral elements are arranged to create a sense of movement and harmony.

Collectors value Jozan rugs for their combination of artistic expression and artisanal integrity. Owning a piece from this tradition is an investment in a storied craft, where every rug serves as a reflection of the weaver's dedication and the historical significance of the region. These rugs are more than just floor coverings; they are carriers of a cultural legacy that continues to resonate in modern homes.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a labour-intensive process that requires exceptional skill and patience. By securing each individual knot by hand, the artisan ensures a level of density and structural integrity that simply cannot be achieved through machine production, resulting in a pile that is both resilient and remarkably uniform.

The construction of this 153 x 109 cm piece involves thousands of precise hand-tied knots, a process that demands weeks of dedicated work. This high density is the secret behind the clarity of its floral patterns and the long-term durability of the pile, allowing the rug to withstand daily use while retaining its refined texture and form.

With a total weight of 5.9 kg, this rug features a robust foundation that speaks to the quality of the materials used. The significant weight relative to its size is a clear indicator of the density of the Wool pile and the expert craftsmanship invested in its creation, ensuring that the finished product is not only visually striking but also built to last for generations.
