Design

The design features a vibrant multicolor field dominated by geometric diamond patterns and enclosed by a detailed decorative border.

Kelims from Afghanistan carry a long history rooted in nomadic and village weaving traditions. Historically used as floor coverings, blankets, and bags, these flatwoven textiles are celebrated for their durability and expressive designs.

The flatweaving technique involves tightly interweaving the warp and weft threads. This creates a light, flexible, and reversible structure that is highly durable and easy to maintain.

This style is defined by its bold geometric patterns, particularly repeating diamond motifs and decorative borders. The use of rich, warm tones like red and orange alongside contrasting blues and greens creates a lively yet balanced composition.

Owning an Afghan Kelim connects your home to generations of weaving knowledge. Each piece represents a personal expression of the weaver, making it a valued addition for collectors and design enthusiasts alike.

Handwoven by skilled artisans in Afghanistan, this Kelim is made using traditional flatweaving techniques that require immense patience and precision. Every single thread is carefully guided by hand to build the intricate geometric patterns.

Weighing 2.9 kg for its 193 x 148 cm size, the rug demonstrates a tight, dense weave. This solid construction ensures the flatweave remains stable and retains its shape over years of daily use.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
