Kelim Ariana Trend - A Warm Welcome for Your Home

Handwoven in Afghanistan, this one-of-a-kind Kelim Ariana Trend rug brings a vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage directly to your living space.

This handwoven flatweave rug offers a delightful tactile experience underfoot, bringing warmth and a cosy feel to any room. Its low profile makes it highly versatile and easy to place, while the natural density of the weave helps to soften acoustics and create a calm, inviting atmosphere in your home.

Crafted entirely from wool, the rug benefits from the natural resilience and soft texture of this premium fibre. Wool is naturally dirt-resistant and highly durable, ensuring that the rich colours and intricate patterns remain beautiful even in busier areas of the household.

As a genuine one-of-a-kind piece, this rug carries its own distinct personality and charm. No two pieces are ever identical, meaning you are acquiring a singular work of textile art that cannot be replicated or found in any other home.

Originating from Afghanistan, the rug showcases the proud weaving traditions of the region. The harmonious blend of geometric diamond motifs and vibrant tones reflects a contemporary take on classic nomadic designs, making it a distinctive focal point for modern interiors.

The tradition of flatweaving in Afghanistan dates back centuries, developed by nomadic and village communities who created these versatile textiles for practical use in daily life. Kilim Ariana rugs represent a beautiful evolution of these ancient techniques, blending historical weaving practices with a fresh design sensibility.

Unlike piled rugs, a kilim is created using a flatweave technique where the weft strands are tightly woven through the warp. This traditional method produces a lightweight yet incredibly strong textile with a smooth, reversible surface that is easy to maintain and highly durable.

The visual language of this rug is defined by its striking geometric patterns, featuring rows of interlocking diamond motifs that create a sense of rhythmic movement. This design is framed by clean borders, showcasing a rich palette of natural dyes that have been carefully balanced to create a harmonious composition.

Highly valued by collectors and design enthusiasts alike, Afghan kilims are celebrated for their authentic craftsmanship and cultural depth. Owning an Ariana kilim means bringing a piece of living history into your home, representing generations of shared knowledge and artistic expression.

Every step of creating this flatwoven rug is done entirely by hand, requiring immense patience and highly developed skill. The weaver carefully interlaces the wool threads on a traditional loom, a process that demands hours of focused concentration to maintain even tension and pattern alignment.

Weighing 2.2 kg for its 177 x 126 cm size, the rug demonstrates a tight, dense weave that speaks to the quality of the craftsmanship. This compact structure ensures the rug lies flat on the floor, resisting curling and wear over years of daily use.

The human touch is visible in every detail, from the slight variations in the geometric shapes to the subtle shifts in colour. These natural irregularities are the hallmark of authentic handmade textiles, reflecting the individual hand of the artisan who spent weeks bringing this piece to completion.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
