Because this rug is one of a kind, you are acquiring a piece that is truly unique. No two rugs from this tradition are ever identical, meaning the specific variations in colour and texture found here will never be replicated elsewhere. Owning this piece ensures that your home features a genuine work of art that feels personal and distinct.

The quality of the wool pile offers a tactile, inviting surface that is durable enough for daily life. Its substantial construction means it sits firmly and comfortably underfoot, providing a sense of quality that you can feel every time you walk across it.

Originating from the Middle East, this rug carries a rich heritage of craft. By choosing this piece, you are inviting a story of tradition and human skill into your living environment, adding a layer of authenticity that mass-produced items simply cannot match.

The Loribaft and Kashkooli traditions are deeply rooted in the weaving heritage of the Middle East, particularly among the nomadic tribes who have long used rug-making as a means of artistic expression. These rugs are renowned for their simplified, often tribal aesthetic that prioritises high-quality materials and deep, natural colour palettes.

The term Loribaft refers to a style that emphasises a thicker, more plush pile, often using hand-spun wool to achieve a softer feel. This technique focuses on creating a rug that is both functional and beautiful, with a construction that allows the natural lustre of the wool to shine through in every strand.

Visually, these rugs often feature geometric motifs or subtle, organic stripes that celebrate the beauty of simplicity. While many traditional rugs are defined by complex, ornate medallions, the Loribaft style is celebrated for its ability to create impact through colour field variations and understated patterns, making it a versatile choice for modern and traditional interiors alike.

Collectors value these rugs for their authenticity and the connection they provide to ancient weaving techniques. Owning a Loribaft means preserving a craft tradition that has been passed down through generations. It is a testament to the skill of the weaver and the enduring appeal of handmade items that age beautifully over time.

This rug is entirely hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill from the artisan. Each knot is individually tied, a labour-intensive method that creates a dense and resilient pile capable of withstanding years of use while maintaining its aesthetic beauty.

With a weight of 5.9 kg across its 150 x 98 cm frame, the rug demonstrates a robust construction. This weight is a direct result of the high-quality wool used and the density of the hand-tied knots, ensuring the final piece is both substantial and long-lasting.

The time and human effort invested in creating this rug are reflected in its structural integrity. Every inch has been carefully crafted to ensure that the pattern remains consistent and the foundation remains stable, highlighting the dedication required to produce such a high-quality hand-knotted piece.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
