Because this is a one-of-a-kind piece, you are acquiring a work of art that exists nowhere else in the world, ensuring your home reflects a personal and curated style.

With its deep, sophisticated colour palette, this rug serves as a striking focal point. Whether placed in a reading nook or a central living area, the quality of the Wool ensures it remains a soft and durable companion for years to come.

Owning such a unique creation means celebrating the skill and artistry behind its construction. This rug is not just a floor covering but a testament to a long-standing tradition that values beauty, longevity, and the personal touch that only a hand-crafted item can provide.

The Moud rug takes its name from the small town of Moud in the eastern part of the Middle East. This region has long been celebrated for its distinctive weaving traditions, which have evolved to produce some of the most recognisable and highly sought-after designs in the region.

The term Moud refers to a specific aesthetic that emphasises balanced, harmonious compositions. These rugs are crafted using traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations, ensuring that each piece maintains a link to the cultural heritage of its place of origin.

Signature design elements of the Moud style often include a central medallion surrounded by dense floral motifs or the popular Herati pattern, which features a diamond shape enclosing a flower head. These motifs are typically arranged in a way that suggests endless growth and continuity, framed by intricate, multi-layered borders.

Collectors value these rugs for their ability to bridge the gap between traditional artistry and modern interior requirements. Owning a Moud rug is an investment in a storied craft, representing a unique intersection of history, skill, and the enduring appeal of hand-knotted textiles.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who dedicate months of focused effort to every piece. With a high knot density of 360,000 knots per m2, the precision required to execute such a complex design is immense, resulting in a pile that is exceptionally dense and durable.

The labour-intensive nature of this process ensures that the pattern remains sharp and resilient against daily use. By investing in this level of craft, you are choosing a floor covering that balances aesthetic beauty with the structural integrity needed to stand the test of time.

Given its significant weight of 5.7 kg for this size, the rug demonstrates a substantial amount of material and tight construction. This density is a direct result of the hours of work invested in every square inch, providing a heavy, high-quality feel that distinguishes it from mass-produced alternatives.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.

Silk

Silk is an exclusive natural fibre that provides a soft and shiny feeling to rugs. The material can also be used to enhance details in wool rugs and in some, silk can make up the entire pile and sometimes even the warp. Elegant rugs with rich details can only be made with silk because other fibres are too thick for this purpose. Silk is a durable and hard-wearing fibre that lasts a long time and becomes more beautiful over time. Due to its sensitivity to liquids, it is advisable to refrain from positioning the rug in areas where there is a high likelihood of moisture or potential spills.
