NainHand KnottedRug

Brown / Black160 x 243 cm

Nain rugs originate from the historic city of Nain in the Middle East, a region celebrated for its long-standing contribution to textile arts. Historically a centre for fine wool production, the city transitioned into a hub for sophisticated rug weaving in the early 20th century, quickly gaining a reputation for producing some of the most elegant pieces in the world.

The quality of a Nain rug is often defined by the precision of its knotting and the refinement of its materials. These rugs are known for their balanced, harmonious compositions and the use of a sophisticated colour palette, often incorporating soft creams and deep reds to create a look that is both understated and highly detailed.

Signature design elements in Nain rugs typically include central medallions surrounded by flowing floral arrangements and intricate vine work. The borders are often just as detailed as the field, featuring repeating motifs that frame the centre piece perfectly, creating a sense of completeness and visual balance.

Collecting a Nain rug is an investment in cultural heritage. These pieces are highly valued for their timeless appeal and the immense skill required to produce them. Owning one is a testament to an appreciation for traditional craft and a desire to bring a piece of history into the modern home.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill. By carefully tying each individual knot, artisans create a dense and durable pile that results in the sharp, clear pattern definition you see on the surface.

Given the substantial weight of 15.6 kg for this size, the rug features a very dense construction. This density is a direct result of the hours of dedicated labour invested by skilled weavers, ensuring a product that is not only visually striking but also built to withstand the demands of daily use.

The craftsmanship involved in creating such a piece ensures that the foundation is strong and the pile is consistently plush. This commitment to traditional techniques is what gives the rug its weight, quality, and characteristic resilience, making it a premium choice for any home.
