This genuine Qashqai rug offers a deeply tactile and grounding experience for any room. Crafted from high-quality wool, it provides a dense, soft pile that feels substantial underfoot while offering natural warmth and excellent sound-dampening qualities for a more comfortable home environment.

The visual impact of this piece is defined by its striking geometric design and saturated, earthy palette. As a one-of-a-kind creation, the specific arrangement of its motifs and the subtle variations in colour ensure that no other rug like this exists. Owning this piece means welcoming a unique work of art into your home that will never be replicated.

With a knot density of 90,000 knots per m2, this rug offers a balance of durability and artisan character. This density ensures that the intricate patterns remain sharp and well-defined over time, providing a resilient surface that is built to withstand everyday life while maintaining its aesthetic appeal for years to come.

Originating from the nomadic traditions of the Middle East, this rug carries a sense of history and cultural significance that mass-produced items simply cannot match. By choosing this piece, you are connecting your living space to a long-standing legacy of craftsmanship and bringing a sense of soulful, intentional design into your daily life.

The Qashqai people are a nomadic tribal confederation with a storied history in the Middle East. For centuries, they have migrated seasonally, a lifestyle that has deeply influenced the design and construction of their textiles. Their rugs are not merely floor coverings but are essential components of nomadic life, designed to be durable enough for travel yet beautiful enough to serve as the heart of a tent home.

The term hand-knotted refers to the traditional method where each pile yarn is individually tied to the foundation. This creates a far more durable and complex surface than machine-made alternatives. A higher knot density, such as the one found here, requires more time and precision, resulting in a rug that is both more detailed in its imagery and significantly more resistant to wear and tear.

Qashqai design is iconic for its use of geometric medallions and stylized floral motifs, often arranged in a repeating, harmonious layout. The use of deep red and dark blue is a hallmark of this tradition, reflecting the natural dyes historically extracted from local plants and minerals. The inclusion of tribal emblems and animal motifs often tells the story of the weaver's environment and cultural identity.

Collecting a Qashqai rug is an investment in human heritage and artistic skill. These rugs are valued by collectors worldwide for their authenticity and the way they bridge the gap between functional craft and expressive art. Owning one means preserving a tradition that has survived for generations and adding a piece of living history to your own home environment.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted, a process that requires immense skill and dedication from the artisan. With a total knot count of approximately 335,000 individual knots, the creation of this piece represents hundreds of hours of focused, manual labour. Each knot is tied by hand to ensure the structural integrity and long-term durability of the pile.

The 11.2 kg weight of this 245 x 152 cm rug is a testament to the generous use of premium wool and the density of its construction. This substantial weight reflects the quality of the materials and the intensity of the weaving process, resulting in a floor covering that is both heavy enough to lie flat and robust enough to handle the demands of a busy home.

The precision required to maintain the knot density of 90,000 knots per m2 throughout the entire surface is what gives this rug its character and longevity. This specific construction technique ensures that the pile is not only dense and luxurious but also capable of retaining its form and vibrant colour depth, making it a reliable and lasting investment for your interior.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
