Because this piece is entirely one of a kind, you are acquiring a singular treasure that will never be recreated. The patterns are rich with symbolic meaning, showcasing a level of detail that draws the eye and rewards closer inspection from every angle.

Designed to anchor your interior, this rug brings a harmonious balance of colour and pattern to your decor. Whether placed in a formal living area or a quiet study, its presence adds character and warmth, ensuring that your space feels truly personal and well-curated.

The Sarough rug tradition originates from the village of Sarouk in the Markazi Province of the Middle East. Historically, this region has been a centre for high-quality weaving, gaining significant international recognition during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for the exceptional durability and elaborate floral designs produced by its local artisans.

What defines a true Sarough is the use of high-quality materials and a robust, dense construction style. The weaving techniques employed in these rugs result in a pile that is known for its resilience and ability to develop a beautiful patina over time, which is why these pieces are so highly sought after by collectors.

Visually, these rugs are celebrated for their sophisticated floral language. You will often find elaborate central medallions or intricate garden-inspired motifs, known as 'mihrab' or prayer-arch designs, surrounded by lush, scrolling vines and palmettes. The colour palettes are typically deep and rich, often featuring bold reds and blues that provide a dramatic contrast against ivory or beige accents.

Owning a Sarough is an investment in cultural heritage and a testament to a long-standing tradition of excellence. These rugs are valued not just for their aesthetic beauty but for the skill and patience required to create them, making them prized possessions in any home that values authentic, enduring craftsmanship.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans who have honed their craft over generations. The process involves an incredible degree of precision, with thousands of individual knots tied by hand to form the intricate floral patterns you see across the surface.

The density of the construction is a testament to the quality and labour invested in this piece. By maintaining a high knot count, the weavers ensure that the rug remains durable, resilient, and sharp in its design, allowing it to withstand years of daily use while retaining its original form.

Creating a rug of this size and complexity requires months of dedicated effort. This slow, deliberate approach to production ensures that every curve of the floral motifs and every transition in colour is executed with care, resulting in a floor covering that is built to last for generations.

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.
