Senneh - A Richly Detailed Centrepiece for Your Home

This one-of-a-kind Senneh rug brings Middle Eastern artistry to your space with its intricate, repeating geometric motifs and deep, classic tones.

This beautiful Senneh rug serves as a striking focal point for any room, offering a rich, tactile experience underfoot. Its dense Wool pile provides warmth and comfort, while its substantial weight ensures it stays firmly in place.

The rug is defined by a sophisticated, repeating geometric pattern that draws the eye across its entire surface. The depth of the colours, combined with the fine texture of the Wool, creates a visual richness that only hand-knotted pieces can achieve.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, this rug is truly singular. No two pieces are ever identical, meaning you are bringing a unique work of art into your home that will never be replicated elsewhere.

Originating from a storied Middle Eastern tradition, this rug carries a sense of heritage and enduring quality. Its robust construction ensures that it will maintain its beauty and character for years to come, becoming a cherished part of your living space.

Senneh rugs originate from the mountainous region of Sanandaj in the western part of the Middle East. This area has a long-standing reputation for producing some of the most refined and technically sophisticated textiles in the world, often characterised by their delicate drawing and tight, precise weaving.

The term Senneh refers to both the city and the specific, highly distinct knotting style used by the local weavers. These rugs are renowned for their use of a single-weft construction, which results in a thinner, more supple texture compared to other regional styles, yet they remain remarkably durable due to the high quality of the Wool used.

Visually, Senneh rugs are famous for their intricate patterns. While they often feature the classic herati or 'fish' motif, they also frequently showcase elaborate, all-over geometric designs that create a sense of balanced complexity. The borders are typically as detailed as the centre, often mirroring the elegance of the primary field.

Owning a Senneh rug is an investment in a deep cultural legacy. These pieces are highly sought after by collectors for their exceptional balance of artistic expression and technical mastery. To have one in your home is to hold a piece of history that continues to be celebrated for its grace and longevity.

This rug is expertly hand-knotted, a process that requires immense patience and skill from the artisan. With a density of 250,000 knots per m2, the creation of this 294 x 203 cm piece involved over 1.4 million individual hand-tied knots, a testament to the dedication required to achieve such precision.

The high knot density not only allows for the sharp, clear definition of the intricate geometric motifs but also contributes to a remarkably durable and dense pile. This level of craftsmanship is why the rug has a significant weight of 23.9 kg, reflecting the generous amount of high-quality Wool used in its construction.

Such a demanding production process ensures that every inch of the rug is crafted to withstand daily use. The time and human effort invested in this piece result in a floor covering that is as resilient as it is visually captivating.
