The Tabriz rug tradition hails from the ancient city of Tabriz in the Middle East, a historic centre of trade and culture that served as a vital hub along the Silk Road. For centuries, this region has been world-renowned for its sophisticated approach to rug weaving, blending artistic innovation with centuries of local craft heritage.

Tabriz rugs are celebrated for their technical precision, often featuring complex, curvilinear patterns that require a high degree of skill to execute. The tradition emphasises the use of fine materials and tight knotting, which allows for a level of detail and durability that makes these pieces highly prized by collectors and homeowners alike.

Signature design elements often include central medallions, intricate floral motifs, and elaborate borders that frame the field. While traditional patterns are deeply respected, the weavers of Tabriz have long been known for their ability to integrate various artistic influences, resulting in a style that is both historically grounded and visually dynamic.

Acquiring a Tabriz rug is more than just a decor choice; it is an investment in a storied tradition of craftsmanship. These rugs are valued for their enduring quality and the cultural narrative they bring into a home, representing a legacy of skill that continues to be passed down through generations of master artisans.

This rug is meticulously hand-knotted by skilled artisans, a process that requires immense patience and precision. Each knot is placed individually to ensure the structural integrity and longevity of the piece, resulting in a dense pile that is built to last for generations.

Given the size of 297 x 202 cm and the significant weight of 24.6 kg, this rug represents a substantial investment of time and raw materials. This weight is a direct indicator of the dense, robust construction that defines high-quality hand-knotted work, ensuring the rug lies flat and maintains its shape over years of use.

The labour-intensive nature of hand-knotting allows for the complex, detailed patterns that characterise the Tabriz tradition. This level of craftsmanship ensures that the design remains sharp and clear, providing a durability that machine-made alternatives simply cannot match.

Wool

Wool is a fantastic natural fibre with many benefits, it is durable and hard-wearing, which means that a rug made from wool can be used for several generations and maintain its quality. They are an excellent choice for keeping your rooms warm during the cold winter months and can reduce noise from everyday life. The material also has a natural dirt-repellent effect which makes wool rugs easy to keep clean. Wool has a natural elasticity, which means that when the pile is pressed down, it can easily bounce back to its original shape.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural material that makes them a suitable option for people with allergies. The material is soft, durable and resilient, which makes them practical and comfortable for high-traffic areas such as the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom.
